Hi, I'm Angie!
I’m Angie McDonnell, the one behind the lens of A-Rae Photography. I am a freelance sports photographer based in the south western region of South Dakota where I have photographed various sporting events for six years.
Though I specialize in sports photography, I also enjoy portraits, weddings, and special projects here and there. And, I would sure like to discuss what it is I can do for you!
A little more about me...
I am originally from Martin, SD where I grew up on our family ranch. I currently attend Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. In May of 2021, I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in professional accountancy, mass communication with an emphasis in photography, and business administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurial studies.
Growing up, I was always intrigued to document various subjects on our family ranch. I slowly expanded into portraiture, and eventually I found myself carrying my camera to various sporting events that friends and family were participating in. Documentary, portraiture, and sports became my comfort zone. As I transitioned into studying photography at Black Hills State University, I realized the need to step out of my comfort zone and explore. I experimented with film photography, became familiar with a studio setting, and created photo series that conveyed a deeper underlying message to name a few. Throughout my studies at Black Hills State University, I gained a great amount of technical knowledge, confidence, and creative passion for photography.
